I will admit, I am not a huge coffee drinker. I do like the occasional cup but really my loyalty is with tea. Loyal-Tea….. get it? I have joined a community garden this spring and am excited to get growing and composting (I live in an apartment building and haven’t been composting but, its time to change that) however, the garden has strict rules about their composting and they don’t allow coffee grounds as I guess they had too much coffee and it was overpowering the rest of the compost. So, I needed something to do with my coffee grounds instead of just throwing them away. Here is my solution. Now, I definitely use less scrub than the amount of grounds that I produce (even with the little amount of coffee that I drink) so it’s not perfect, but at least its something for now. Keep on reading to learn how to make your own. It’s super simple and smells delicious!

Ingredients:
¼ Cup used Coffee Grounds
I take the grounds out of my pot and let them sit out in a bowl for a day or two to dry out.
¼ Cup Brown Sugar
¼ Cup Coconut Oil (or other oil of your choice. Try Olive, Almond or Avocado)
Softened or melted on the stove top to make mixing easier
Optional: a few drops of essential oil. I find the coffee smell is enough but it might be fun to add in oils like chocolate, orange, or mint to the coffee fragrance.
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a jar
That’s it… it’s that easy.
